Launching on September 29, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is a modernized, upgraded version of one of the best-selling role-playing games of all time. Nintendo Switch 2 players will take on the role of professional monster slayer, Geralt of Rivia, who must traverse the war-torn Northern Kingdoms in search of Ciri — his adopted daughter and the Child of Prophecy — before the ruthless riders of the Wild Hunt claim her power for themselves. Players will explore a vast open world filled with quests, monsters, and difficult choices across the base game and its two already-released expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game takes advantage of the platform’s dedicated features. With motion controls, players can cast witcher signs, fire a crossbow, toss a bomb, drink a potion, and speed up and stop Roach. Gyro aiming allows for extra precision in combat, and mouse controls also give players who prefer this input a new way to play. Touch screen support also allows for convenient browsing of the in-game map and menus — and also can be used to play Gwent.
The game also takes advantage of the hardware capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2 to improve both performance and visual fidelity, alongside the wide slate of upgrades and improvements coming with Remastered itself. These include graphical and performance enhancements alongside overhauled combat and animations, a completely redesigned skills and character progression system, updated monster behaviors, transmogrification, expanded photo mode and much more. Players who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Nintendo Switch can claim Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 at no extra cost. Digital owners can pre-order Remastered for free right now from the Nintendo eShop. Owners of a physical copy of the game will be able to claim the upgrade on launch. For new players, Remastered can be pre-ordered today ahead of its release on September 29.
Also featured in the Nintendo Direct segment was Songs of the Past — the upcoming third expansion that sees Geralt return to the Path in the new realm of Letten. The expansion will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, and can be wishlisted today.
